IPCM Events at the World Social Forum 2016

The International People's Conference on Mining (IPCM) will be organizing two events related to large-scale mining and people's resistance at the upcoming 2016 World Social Forum in Montreal, Canada from August 9 to 14, 2016.

The first event will take place on August 9, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:30 am at the Pavillon DE (Local DE-2560) of the Université du Québec à Montréal. Entitled "ON THE GLOBAL HARM OF CANADIAN MINING OPERATIONS: A Workshop on People’s Campaigns for Justice against Canadian Mining Operations", the forum-workshop is centered around the impacts of Canadian mining to the peoples of the world and strategies and ways forward for coordination and strenghened resistance.

The second event will take place on August 12, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:30 am at the Pavillon DE (Local DE-2550) of the Université du Québec à Montréal. Entitled "DEFEND OUR ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENDERS: A Forum on People’s Movements and Resistance against Environmental Plunder amidst Impunity", the forum-workshop features peoples' movements and resistance against environmental plunder and ways forward in our defense of environmental defenders.
